A little time here and there, when the winter felt stronger, when this season only seemed to be longer, and longer. Freedom seemed ten million miles away, unattainable on this lonely road. How far must one cross over the ocean set between happiness, and despair?
She’s on edge, giving herself scars to search for healing. Through crying, and cutting, she sleeps longer in the day, she stays restless during the night. Wondering if she’ll ever feel loved.
He’s far off, turning to a drink for a temporary escape. He’s in the city, yet his dreams are alone in the wilderness. Struggling to love in this life, fighting for a hope burying himself like dirt.
Six feet under, a life that ended far too early. Would’ve never seen so many flowers, never gotten to hear so many kind words that were held on to the back of the congregation’s tongue. Should’ve told her, should’ve told him, before it was too late. Should’ve sparked a flame in a dying fire. Oh why do we wait, before it’s late?
We were given the love, only to let it go unused. Using a part of it here and there. Unaware of the lost so we assumed to never share a compass of hope. As we pass the graves of the unknown, far off a city of fallen dreams. A street of forgetfulness, a road of no direction. We had the map but never shared it. We held the match but didn’t light it.
Six feet under, she was unreached, a heart broken for so long. It’s no wonder her dad’s bawling drowning in tears, his mom grieving in agony. As they now live with the weight of not being an encourager, of ever exhorting, oblivious to the sorrow that these heavy hearts fall into.
Echoes in a desert that couldn’t be heard. Candles held onto that were never lit, the silence of this sound is bound to travel. Another heart ending is proof of the world destroying the lost, and weary. Yet so many try to grow so close to it.
Oh but I know love can conquer all of this, no burdens or broken hearts could lose a battle again. ‘Cause the night won’t last, when the war is won. Love, perfect love is attainable, hope is here. You’ll feel the power of love overflowing. As He saves the broken-hearted, for He is always close. Heartened words that were given to you don’t keep them to yourself. The beauty of kind words, cause love is stronger. Love is stronger than fear, it’s stronger than hate, than depression, than doubt. A beauty everlasting forever.
Set the light, uplift the hearts put around you. Walk in love, be the bridge set between light, and darkness. Lead them to their true identity, stand by them in troubles. Be a soldier for Christ, have great confidence for He will be the One to win the battles.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
2 Corinthians 1: 3-4
